During normal dredging operations, the dredge operator directly controls the operation of various mechanical equipment (consisting of drive devices, transmission devices, etc.) through various buttons, switches, and levers, enabling the dredge to perform various ordered dredging actions. Under certain objective conditions, such as specific engineering projects, vessels, defined working conditions, soil type, weather, hydrology, and the impact of vessel navigation on dredging operations, the production efficiency of a cutter suction dredge essentially depends on the operator's skill level. The level of operational skill is reflected in several aspects, including the control of the cutter's dredging trajectory, forward and lateral movement distances, cutter rotation speed, dredging width and depth, and the adjustment of the mud pump's normal operating conditions.
During dredging operations, attention should be paid to the following:
1. Maintaining a suitable and balanced slurry concentration. Slurry content is a key parameter for improving production efficiency and must be controlled appropriately and kept in balance.
2. Maintaining all machinery in good working condition.
3. Performing all auxiliary dredging tasks quickly, accurately, and successfully on the first attempt. In short, minimizing the time spent on auxiliary tasks, maximizing dredging time, and maintaining a balanced and appropriate slurry concentration during the dredging construction cycle are key to improving the production efficiency of a cutter suction dredge.
