What factors affect the capabilities of a dredger?

The task of a dredger is to carry out underwater earthwork construction, which includes: deepening, widening, and clearing existing waterways and ports; excavating new waterways, ports, and canals; dredging the foundations of docks, shipyards, locks, and other hydraulic structures; and disposing of the excavated sediment into the deep sea or using it to reclaim land in low-lying areas.

This raises the question: how can the dredging depth of a dredger be increased? There are solutions to this problem: the dredging depth of a dredger is determined by the suction capacity of the mud pump and the concentration of the sediment. Of course, the particle size distribution and viscosity of the sediment also have a certain impact on the dredging depth.

Under certain fixed conditions of the dredger, the dredging depth will increase with the increase of the mud pump's suction capacity and decrease with the decrease of the sediment concentration.

Dredgers have a wide range of applications in waterway dredging, sand excavation and silt removal, land reclamation, and road construction. Their dredging depth is affected by many factors; the two aspects mentioned above are just the general factors that we usually consider during manufacturing and customer selection, and are also the main factors considered by manufacturers and consumers.
