◆ Specifications and Equipment of the Deep-Sea Mining Vessel
The vast and boundless ocean holds endless and precious resources. If these resources can be fully developed and utilized, it will undoubtedly bring profound benefits to humanity. Now, with the rapid development of technology and continuous human exploration, China has successfully built its first deep-sea mining vessel, which is about to be put into operation. So, what exactly is this deep-sea mining vessel, hailed as a global first? What does its emergence signify?

◆ Operating Process and Characteristics of the Deep-Sea Mining Vessel
During deep-sea operations, the mining vessel will use a mining machine lowered to the seabed to level the operating surface. Then, a deep-sea lifting pump and specialized pipelines will transport the ore slurry to the mining vessel on the surface. After processing by a dewatering system, the ore will be transferred to the ship's ore storage compartments via a loading and unloading system.

It is worth mentioning that this deep-sea mining vessel being built by China is expected to be completed and delivered by the end of 2018. The shipbuilding company stated that this is a completely new challenge, as it is the first vessel of its kind and requires the integration of many complex systems. However, the engineers are confident, stating that the design and key equipment, such as underwater operating equipment and mineral dewatering systems, are all first-time applications in China's shipbuilding industry.

Once completed, this deep-sea mining vessel will integrate four major functions: navigation, operation, accommodation, and support. It features a long cruising range, deep operating waters, and a long operating cycle, as well as high system complexity, multiple variable loads, and excellent ship comfort. Furthermore, all the mining equipment on board is being transferred from land to a ship for the first time, and is designed to withstand harsh sea conditions, even operating during typhoons.
